Gravimetry at the Pecný station

Regular gravimetric observations as continuous tidal observations by spring gravimeters have been carried out at the observatory since early seventies of the last century. Stationary use of relative gravimeters (primarily designated for field measurements), due to increased accuracy requirements, has involved to deal with permanent amendments of the methodology of observations and testing of spring gravimeters (calibration, temperature and magnetic sensitivity etc.).

Since 2001 the instrumentation of the gravimetric laboratory has improved significantly. The absolute gravimeter (AG) FG5#215 has been operated since August 2001 and the superconducting gravimeter (SG) OSG#050 was installed in February 2007 at the Pecný station.

The new instrumentatation allowed to monitor and deal with large range of geophysical phenomena from subseismic frequencies up to secular variations.
